Gramona Mas Escorpí 2011

Mas Escorpí is an estate wine.  All of the grapes come from the same vines from two prominent estates: Mas Escorpí and El Serralet, in the highlands of Sant Sadurní d'Anoia.

This grape harvest is of extraordinary quality, with a potential alcoholic content of 12.5% and a total acidity of 4 expressed in H2SO4.  The fermentation of the flower must was carried out between 14º and 15º over 43 days.  Saccharomyces uvarum yeast is used, enabling this prolonged fermentation, and obtaining a top-quality must with significant glycerine content that renders an unctuous wine ready for excellent in-bottle aging.

The serving temperature should be from 11º to 12º.  To be savoured now, as a young and fruited wine and over the next three years if the wine is to be enjoyed in all its complexity.

Gramona, sets up in Yr.1881 in Spain with over 130 years history, produces the top quality and longest aged Cavas, with high recognition in the world.

Sight: Bright straw-coloured yellow with greyish and new golden tones.

Nose: High intensity expressed in a varied aromatic array, fresh fruit, dessert pears, fruit peels, evocation of ripe fruit such as mangos, with a hint of citric peels that refreshes and personalizes this variety; light white flower nuances.

Taste: Cool, refreshing attack with a unique fruit emphasis, good acidity later mellowed during inbottle aging, unctuosity, and body that complete this wine in addition to a long, intense aftertaste, with fruit evocations, enabling it to prosper in the bottle.
